1. Eat a Balanced Diet
Eating well is one of the most important parts of staying healthy. And how best to you eat well than with a balanced diet? A balanced diet is a diet which contains the right amount of foods to provide adequate nutrients and energy to the body cells.
A healthy balanced diet contains the following group of foods: vegetables, fruits, grains, protein, dairy, carbohydrates and saturated fats. Eating from each group of food will make sure you are getting all the benefits these food have to offer, different foods provide different types and amount of key nutrients.
2. Replace Saturated With Unsaturated Fats
Most times, you’ll hear experts say “Avoid too much fat”. Actually, they mean the bad fats. Alright, so now which is the bad and the good fat?
Unsaturated fats are loosely packed fats. Chemically, they have double bonds between their carbon chains and are usually liquid at room temperature. This is the good fat. Want to be healthy? Then stick with unsaturated fats. These fats increase blood levels of high density lipoprotein which in turn reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. Example of foods rich in unsaturated fats are spinach, fish (especially Salmon), walnuts, olive oil and soybeans.
On the other hand, saturated fats are tightly packed. Chemically, they have a single bond between their carbon chains and are mostly solids at room temperature. These are the bad fats. They increase blood levels of low density lipoprotein which in turn increases the risk of cardiovascular disease. Saturated fats can be found in foods such as pork and fatty pieces of beef.
You should endeavor to limit the consumption of saturated fats and replace them with essential monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats.
3. Eat Plenty Of Fruits And Vegetables
Fruits and vegetables may help reduce the risk of many diseases, including some cancers and high blood pressure, fruits and veggies are also among the most important foods that provide the body with mineral, vitamins, and fiber.
Including these two in your diet will enhance your body functions and keep you look healthier and active.
4. Drink Plenty Of Fluids
Water is another way to become healthy. Blood alone contains about 90% of eater. With no fuss, you need at least 1.5 liters of fluid in a day or more. If it’s very hot or you were physically active, drinking plenty of fluids should be a priority to keep you hydrated and nourished and water is definitely the perfect fluid you should take, healthier and more beneficial. As an advise, you should take at least a glass of water each day in the morning immediately after waking up from sleep and at night before you sleep.
Other beneficial fluids include mineral water, sparkling or non-sparkling water, plain or flavored, fruit juices and milk.
5. Physical Activity Is Important
Integrating any form of physical activity will also contribute to healthier you in 2020, it is important for everyone regardless of weight range and health condition, it helps to burn extra calories to keep you in shape and prevent the risk of a heart condition and circulatory system.
Some easy to do physical activity includes swimming, jogging, running, skipping a rope, playing basketball and football.
Physical activity has so many benefits to your health. It can help you focus, stay active and get to and stay at healthy body weight, reduce the risk of bone fractures, maintain or increase the body mass, 150 minutes of physical activity each day is highly advised.
Gradual changes in your lifestyle for a healthier body system is easier to maintain than a major change that is introduced at once and it tends to be more difficult to adapt to, you should make a list of the changes to made and as the day goes by, each is gradually added to your daily activities.
